SteamRocket announces the launch of STEAM Sheroes, a special month-long campaign celebrating women pioneers in STEAM fields during Women's History Month. Throughout March, SteamRocket will highlight a remarkable woman each day whose innovations and discoveries have shaped our technological and artistic world but are often overlooked in traditional histories.

The campaign is crucial given the increasing erasure of women's contributions in STEAM fields, particularly in digital spaces. Recent news has revealed trends concerning online information sources, where women scientists and innovators frequently have their achievements minimized, attributed to male colleagues, or omitted entirely from historical narratives. This digital erasure impacts how young people perceive the field and who they believe belongs in STEAM careers.

From computing visionary Ada Lovelace, who wrote the first algorithm intended for processing on a computer, to actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr, whose frequency-hopping technology laid gthe roundwork for WiFi and Bluetooth, the campaign will illuminate the often-untold stories of women whose contributions continue to impact our daily lives.

"Too many young people, especially girls, grow up without seeing themselves represented in STEAM fields," says Elle Decker, Co-founder of SteamRocket. "By sharing these powerful stories of women innovators throughout history, we hope to inspire Valley youth to recognize that groundbreaking contributions to science and technology have always come from diverse voices, including women who overcame significant barriers."

Decker added, "We're also addressing the troubling trend of women in STEAM being written out of history, particularly in online spaces. When contributions are minimized or credited to others, we lose the truth and potential role models who could inspire the next generation. Our project aims to correct some of these narratives and ensure these pioneering women receive the recognition they deserve."

The daily profiles will be shared across SteamRocket's social media platforms and website, featuring each woman's biographical information, key achievements, and the lasting impact of their work. The STEAM Sheroes campaign will cover pioneers from various disciplines, including:

♀️ Frida Kahlo, revolutionary artist who challenged conventions and brought authenticity to her work

♀️ Katherine Johnson, NASA mathematician whose calculations were critical to early U.S. space missions

♀️ Rosalind Franklin, whose X-ray diffraction images led to the discovery of DNA's structure

♀️ Grace Hopper, who pioneered computer programming and invented one of the first compiler tools

♀️ Marie Curie, the first person to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields

♀️ Chien-Shiung Wu, experimental physicist who disproved a law of symmetry in physics

This initiative aligns with SteamRocket's ongoing mission to make STEAM education accessible and inspiring for all Coachella Valley youth, highlighting the importance of diverse perspectives in advancing scientific and technological innovation.
