SteamRocket is thrilled to announce the return of its micro:bit Coding Club—an engaging, hands-on program designed to introduce children aged six and up to the world of coding and digital creation. The program, which uses the fun and versatile BBC micro:bit device, offers kids the chance to bring their digital ideas to life through interactive, creative projects.
Building on the success of previous seasons, the micro:bit Coding Club is part of SteamRocket's growing collection of innovative coding and robotics programs aimed at making STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education accessible and exciting for local youth. The club's classes will be held at the Regional Access Project Foundation in Palm Desert, with limited spots available to ensure every child gets personalized, hands-on guidance.
"We've seen how transformative the micro:bit can be for kids," says Justin Decker, co-founder of SteamRocket. "What makes it special is how quickly kids can dive into coding and create something they’re proud of. The micro:bit takes complex tech and breaks it into fun, interactive lessons. The result? Kids gain confidence in their coding and problem-solving skills, boosting their confidence in school and beyond."
The micro:bit is an ideal starting point for young coders. Equipped with LED displays, buttons, sensors, and wireless capabilities, the device lets students learn the basics of programming while designing everything from simple games to wearable tech and even environmental monitoring devices.
“Each class is designed to show students that coding is more than just lines of text on a screen,” Decker explains. “When kids use their micro:bit to track temperature, count their steps, or design their own retro games, they're not just learning to code—they’re learning how technology can change the world around them.”
The program runs on select Fridays in April, with each session priced at just $10. SteamRocket's commitment to keeping the program affordable ensures that all children—regardless of their financial background—can develop vital digital skills crucial for future success.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up soon, as previous sessions have filled up quickly. To register for the micro:bit Coding Club, visit SteamRocket.co. For more details, contact Crystal at crystal@SteamRocket.co.
